ABOUT Me
My name is Maitrayi Pithadiya; I am an artist. I was born and bought up in Gujarat, India. I grew up in an art loving family, where my grandfather had a great interest in painting, while my parents loved music and dance. I inherited the artistic genes and was keenly attracted toward art and craft from my childhood. As I grew up, my interest towards art also grew, which lead me to pursue education in art. In 2000, I graduated with BFA degree from Seth C.N. College of Fine Arts in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. While pursuing BFA degree, I got an opportunity to learn from Urmiben Parikh, who is a daughter of Rasiklal Parikh, very well known artists from Gujarat. It was a dream come true! It helped me to build a strong foundation for my art career. I participated in juried exhibitions and health and environment awareness projects, for which I was awarded.
In 2006, I moved to San Francisco, California, USA, with my family. I have always enjoyed capturing the nature on my canvas, the astonishing beauty of California inspired me further to continue my passion. To improve my artistic skill set, I took courses on oil painting, live figure drawing, photography and graphic designing at Las Positas Community College, Livermore. I joined multiple art associations in Bay Area and currently I am an active member of Pleasanton Art League. I also did graphic design projects for Livermore community events in 2014. I participated in several juried group exhibitions in the Bay Area and won multiple awards. I won “Merit award” at 4th Annual Fresh Works Open Juried Exhibition at Firehouse Arts Center Harrington Gallery, Pleasanton in 2014. In 2014 and 2015 I was also awarded at spring art show at Las Positas College, Livermore. To help the local community, I gave volunteer art lessons at my children’s elementary schools in Fremont and Pleasanton for several years. At present I have my studio located in Pleasanton, where I do my practice and provide art education for all levels from beginners to advanced.
